Electronic garage doors are a convenient and safe way to keep the contents of your garage safe while you are away. They can become quite a pain, however, if you forget the password and can't get the door to open. The password that you use can be reset through the remote control, the door motor or even the keypad itself, depending on the brand and model of automatic garage door that you have.
Check the manual that came with your garage door opener to see which button or combination of buttons you need to press first. Press and hold down the "Send" and "#" key for five seconds if you don't have your manual--as that is the most common combination.
Go to the garage door keypad and press the "Enter" button.
Key in the new password combination that you want and then press "Enter" again.
Locate the motor on the top side of the garage door. Look for a small button that should be located underneath or to the side of the wires that run from the motor to the garage door.
Press the button and then head back over to the garage door keypad.
Type in the new password that you want and then press the "Enter" button.
Check the user manual that came with the garage door and find out the combination that you need to enter to reset the keypad code. Press both the "8" and "#" buttons at the same time if you don't have the manual, as that is the most common code.
Type in the code 357, and then hit "Enter," or instead use the specific code combination that your manual specifies.
Type in the new password that you want to use and then hit "Enter" again to confirm the change.
